Blessing of the Business Plans on 17th August 2008

Planning Permission has now been granted, both for the new Medical Centre and also for the Church Community Project building. Thanks go to all those involved, particularly our councillors, Marc Donnelly, Neil Hamilton and Pat Hillicks who have supported this integrated community project at every step, and also our MP, Doug Henderson, for his support.

The Big Lottery Bid was posted 18th August… our bid for a capital grant of £500,000 from the Big Lottery Community Building Fund! Representatives from Big Lottery will visit Chapel House sometime in the next few weeks. The process is competitive, but we remain hopeful. We expect the results by February 2009. Meanwhile fund-raising continues to raise the £140,000 still needed.

Local Patron - Hari Shukla. We are delighted that Hari (pictured below), a resident of Chapel House and initiator of ‘Newcastle City for Peace’ is to be local Patron of the 'Outside In' Community Project.

Buy a Brick!
The Buy a Brick appeal was launched in July and has already raised £760. Buying bricks will not only help raise much needed funds, but can also be a way of commemorating someone in the Memory Book, which will be kept in the Rainford Room.

If you wish to Buy a Brick please contact a member of the church. Leaflets are available in the church and also in George’s Hardware shop. Please do not give money to anyone you do not know.

Warning: The church never collects money by sending people door to door. Please do NOT give money to anyone at your door who says they are collecting for the church. Inform the Local Neighbourhood Police Team immediately on 03456 043 043, extension number 69191.
