Partners In Community Action Grant
We are delighted to report that Partners In Community Action (PICA) have just awarded the 'Outside In' project a substantial and generous grant. PICA is a fund established within Newcastle Diocese to help support community based initiatives that benefit a wide range of people in need. The committee was impressed with the way 'Outside In' is seeking to make the church resources more available for everyone, especially in support of carers and people with dementia and other mental health difficulties.
PICA will be the major funding provider of the Rainford Room, in recognition of the long-standing and ongoing link between the the local GPs and the church. Our thanks go to PICA for their support. We look forward to a continuing partnership with PICA and their efforts to support other initiatives.

Scaffolding on the church roof
Long awaited work has begun. The church roof is being renovated, insulated and waterproofed. Once this is complete we can begin internal work to repair the ceilings and lighting. Your patience is asked during the construction work.
The Buy a Brick Appeal has now raised over £2,000. Thank you to all who have contributed so far. Our total target is £10,000. Please encourage your neighbours to buy some bricks for the new community facilities. Donations can be handed to George at Houseproud Hardware, Chapel House shops.
Thank you to Denton and Westerhope Ward Committees for recent helpful grants towards the project and for their continued and much valued support and encouragement.
Big Lottery visit on Friday, 3rd October: two representatives visited Chapel House, looked around the site and listened to what we hope to do with the partnership project. They were extremely encouraging. The committee meets on 25th November and the results will be known soon afterwards.
A great big thank you to Ruth Hewitt who has raised over £1,000 for the project by completing the Great North Run in 2 hours 40 minutes. This was Ruth's first run ever - well done Ruth!
